My Photographic History

I began taking photo at 8 years old.

My parents purchased a Kodak 110 for me and since then  I have always carried a camera with me.

The most pivotal moment in my photography came when at age 12. I took a picture of a sunset while on vacation at the Grand Canyon. The image has traveled through many years, many moves and many boxes of images. The picture spoke volumes to me as a 12 year old. So much so, that in 2012, I returned to the Grand Canyon to find the location of that photo, from my memory, and try to capture it again.  The feeling the picture left me with is etched into my long term memory file and impacts my photography today.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Applied Behavior and a Master's degree in Education.  These degrees taught me and forced me to pay attention to the Big picture, the details and everything in between.

My educational history also provided me with a power of observation and thus the impact of my educational backround on my photography.

My photographs are never mundane. They employ a different perspective. I can remember a geography book in 2nd grade that showed a man on a boat casting a line into a vast body of water. I am that photographer who makes you want to be at that location, who inspires others to travel, to create, to change. While on a dive trip in Malaysia, a Photographer reminded me that sometimes all we need to do is turn around and we find what we are looking for.
